Fundado en 1935 por los hermanos Jack y Frank Alger, Spud es una gran opción si se trata de comida rápida de la mas alta calidad, excelente servicio por un muy buen precio. El restaurante permaneció en la familia Alger hasta que, recientemente, el hijo de Frank, Rick decidió retirarse a la edad de 55 y se lo vendió a la cadena de marisquerías Ivar’s.

Si quieres pasar un día de diversión bajo presupuesto con la familia, te recomiendo una excursión a Alki Beach y comida en Spud:  puedes tomar el water taxi en el centro de Seattle que tiene precio popular de transporte público y te dejará en Alki por un costo bastante accesible. Después de disfrutar el paseo, toda la familia puede disfrutar las delicias inigualables de Spud y comerlo como y donde más se les antoje; Al aire libre, dentro del restaurante disfrutando la inigualable vista del segundo piso o incluso de picnic en las arenas de la hermosa playa que se encuentra literalmente cruzando la calle.

Alki, Madison Park, Kirkland

When it comes to eating Mexican, I’m very hard to impress. After living South of the Border as long as I, it’s difficult to accept burritos and crunchy tacos as “Mexican” food. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found at ¡Cactus! on Alki.

Regulars bring their friends to Gorditos for the selection, the fast service, and what they call the Baby Burrito.

“Come on,” my friend said one hungry day around lunchtime. “I know the best place for burritos – and it’s not on the Ave!” My tummy growling, I squeezed into the back seat (really, the open storage area) of my friend’s two-door, and with that, we headed to Greenwood.

When we arrived after catching some free parking in an inconspicuous parking lot adjacent to the restaurant, I stared at the menu, jaw to the floor. I could get a caesar salad with beef and beans, ceviche tostada, and even at 2 p.m., huevos rancheros.
