Residents of Santa Rosa de la Sal have a terrible secret. But the truth won’t surface until the bodies do–and only Víctor Zepeda, a teenager who himself is haunted by death, can reveal it. A handful of female students are listed as expelled–then missing–from the “escuela secondaria” in the town. Corpses, mummified by the town’s economic staple, salt, begin to appear. Neither local authorities, nor school officials, nor medical examiners can determine what actually happened. As Víctor happens upon evidence, slowly building a number of theories, he faces his own demons. The plot twists and turns like  a jagged  mountain path; fans of suspense and newcomers to the genre will all make the tumultuous trek to the top.
